Mrityunjaya means the one who has won death and its only Mrityunjaya lord Shiva who has won it because Shiva is that conscious power which exists in every creature in the form of self-light. People worship them by the name of Mahakal, Matarajanjai etc. It is a perception among people that worship of Mrityunjaya only leads to the prevention of disease but scriptures suggests that there are many benefits of worshiping Mrityunjaya like remedal of negative impact of current and birth-time planetary positions.
